The defender was booked after half an hour of Manchester United’s round of 16 Champions League clash with PSG.
Young pulled back Kylian Mbappe during a counter attack, leaving referee Daniele Orsato with no choice but to book the United ace.
However, Young could have easily seen red just before half time.
The United star shoved Di Maria off the pitch and into the fencing on the side of the pitch.
PSG’s stars surrounded the referee and a melee ensued between the players.
United fans were booing their former player Di Maria throughout the Champions League showdown due to his poor spell at Old Trafford.
Fans took to social media following Young’s shove on Di Maria, with plenty of supporters slamming the United ace.
One said: “Never mind a second yellow that’s a straight red.
“Ashley Young is an animal and should be nowhere near a football pitch.”
Another added: “That’s dirty from Ashley Young. Dirrrrttttyyyyy.”
“That’s the best thing Ashley Young’s done all season…” one supporter wrote.
A fellow fan added: “Ashley Young. Late Hit. 15 yards Penalty. First Down.”
Ex-United ace Di Maria spent one year at Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal.
However, the Argentina international struggled to impress and joined PSG in 2015.
The 30-year-old has dominated at PSG alongside Neymar, Mbappe and Edinson Cavani.
