Chelsea news: Maurizio Sarri must DROP two players after Man City loss – Gabriele Marcotti | Football | Sport

Sergio Aguero struck his second hat-trick in three games to lead Manchester City to a 6-0 win over Chelsea.

Defeat means the Blues have now lost their last three away Premier League games without scoring a goal.

Question marks have risen over the future of head coach Sarri following Chelsea’s heaviest loss in 28 years.

But if he does keep his job, Marcotti says the Italian should bring both Emerson Palmieri and Andreas Christensen into his back line.

Marcotti says left-back Marcos Alonso is one of the two players who should be drppped.

“I think Alonso’s a problem,” he told ESPN FC.

“I’d like to see Emerson get a run in the side, not that he’s any great shakes.

“I think Christensen should be given certainly far more of an opportunity.

“I think those two are the key element.

“But most important is you can’t have stupid defensive mistakes which is what cost them that game.

“I think that’s something you need to work on more on the training pitch and figure out how to get your message across to your players.”

Sarri has been criticised for not changing his style during his first few months at Chelsea.

But Marcotti says the former Napoli boss has proven in the past he is not as stubborn as many think.

“He’s not entirely inflexible that in the past he has changed his system,” he continued.

“He’s changed his formation, he’s even played with a guy in the hole when he was at Empoli.

“But he believes people need to learn his ideas and his system for it to work and then you can make changes.

“That might not be right for Chelsea, that might not be right at the highest level. It’s as simple as that.”
