Man Utd news: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes big Harry Kane claim about Marcus Rashford | Football | Sport

Manchester United’s interim manager has moved Rashford from the left-wing into his natural position as a central striker.

And the youngster, 21, has repaid his boss’s faith with three goals and two assists in his five games under the Norwegian.

Kane leads the Premier League goalscoring charts once again this season and is rated as one of the best strikers in world football.

The pair will go head to head in Sunday’s clash between Tottenham and United at Wembley.

And Solskjaer says Rashford can emulate the Spurs star by becoming one of the best goalscorers in the country.

“Marcus can become a top, top striker,” he said.

“We can talk about Harry Kane and his class. Marcus has the potential to get up there.

“He’s got frightening pace, he’s now become stronger and can hold the ball up for us.”

Solskjaer has a 100 percent record since taking over from the sacked Jose Mourinho but will face his first big challenge when he takes his side to north London.

In the home dugout will be Mauricio Pochettino who is the favourite to take over at Old Trafford when they appoint a permanent manager at the end of the season.

And while Solskjaer has made no secret of his desire to take the job on a full-time basis, he understands why United chiefs might be looking at Pochettino.

“He’s done a very good job,” the former Red Devils striker said.

“The speculation is there for a reason because he’s done well but it’s not my job to rate different managers. My focus is on me and my team.”

Although many believe Sunday’s clash to be the first game in which Solskjaer’s side will be properly tested, he says he has already shown he can handle pressure.

“No we’ve had tests,” he added.

“Newcastle away was a test, the first game how everyone reacted away to Cardiff was a test, the second game, how crowd would affect is a test.

“You get tested every single game in the Premier League.

“But of course this is against a top top side and if we want to get close to them and go past them we will need a good performance and a good result.”
