Liverpool news: Have you seen what Daniel Sturridge did in training – This is BRILLIANT | Football | Sport

Liverpool host Cardiff City at Anfield tomorrow, just four days after their 4-0 Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade in midweek.

A win for the Reds would see Jurgen Klopp’s side go top of the Premier League before Manchester City face Tottenham on Monday night.

And as Klopp put his players through their paces at Melwood this week, hitman Sturridge has been showing exactly why he deserves a starting spot against the Bluebirds.

During a small-sided game in training, Sturridge found the back of the net with a brilliant no-look strike.

And after watching the clip, fans were quick to compare it team-mate no-look specialist Roberto Firmino.

“Firmino effect,” one fan wrote.

Another said: “Got his mojo back knocking around with Firmino.”

“I thought it was only Mane who copies Firmino,” a third fan joked.

A fourth fan commented alongside a GIF of Firmino: “He’s learning from the best.”

Sturridge has been in impressive form for Liverpool this term.

The striker has scored four goals in all competitions and he’s since been backed to secure a new deal with the Reds.

“I think Sturridge is a fantastic player,” Anfield legend Ian Rush told the Mirror.

“When he went to West Brom he may have realised that ‘I want to be back at Liverpool’.

“He’s got a second chance now and he’s done really well so far. Hopefully that will continue.

“There’s only so many who can play. I remember when it was myself, Fowler and Collymore.

“There was only two places up for grabs so when you get your chance you’ve got to take it.

“It’s as simple as that. As for a new contract? Yeah, I think so.

“I think it’s one of those where he’s playing for a contract now.

“So it’s even more important to him to show how good he can be.”
