Wanted: Mesut Ozil

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil could join Turkish giants Fernerbache.

That’s according to Turkish news outlet , who claim Fernerbache are preparing an audacious approach in January.

Ozil signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract worth £350,000 per-week in January, but the arrival of Unai Emery has left the 29-year-old’s future in doubt.

Rumours spread that the pair had fallen out before Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over West Ham last month, which Ozil supposedly missed due to illness.

And now talks of a January departure is in full swing.

Fotomac claim Fenerbache are front-runners for the playmaker’s signature with Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United also monitoring the situation.

The add that Arsenal would sell for a fee in the region of £42million, but

Fernerbache matching his £350,000k wages seems unlikely.

Fergie rejected…

Alan Smith has revealed all on the moment his mother answered the phone to Sir Alex Ferguson as the Manchester United icon attempted to lure him to Old Trafford.

Smith explains in his new autobiography, ‘Heads Up: My Life Story’, that the legendary boss phoned his home to try to convince him in 1987, before he made the switch from Leicester to Arsenal.

“Mom went to answer the phone, which sat on a small table out in the hall. After a few seconds she returned to the lounge,” he explained, in an extract shared by Sky Sports.

“Mom went to answer the phone, which sat on a small table out in the hall. After a few seconds she returned to the lounge.

“’Alan, it’s Alex Ferguson,’ she said, a little hesitantly. ‘He says he wants to speak to you.’ ‘What, the Alex Ferguson, Mom?’ I was shocked to say the least. ‘Do you mean the Manchester United manager?’

“I could tell right away from those broad Glaswegian tones that this wasn’t a prank call from one of my Leicester team-mates. It was indeed Ferguson. And he had a proposition.

“’Alan,’ he continued, ‘I know Arsenal are interested but I’d like you to wait till the end of the season. I want you to sign for Manchester United.’”

Smith explained that he felt rude rejecting the chance to join Manchester United in such swift fashion, despite the fact that the club were struggling in the league at the time.

Matteo Guendouzi arrival

Matteo Guendouzi was told to join Arsenal by his former Lorient team-mate Jeremie Aliadiere.

Aliadiere spent eight seasons at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger between 1999 and 2007, and knew Guendouzi would become a top player and recommended Arsenal to him for his progression.

“I knew when I first saw him that he had something special and that a lot of clubs would be after him,” Aliadiere told Goal.

“I said to him that for his development Arsenal would definitely be the right place for him. You can go to big clubs and never get a chance but Arsenal always give a chance to their young players.

“I thought it’d be good for him.”
